Overview
Project 1: Social Design Campaign
For this project, we are required to choose a topic and design a social campaign for it. The purpose of this project is for us to research and identify the problem, working on a visual medium to educate and change people's behaviour toward that issue. The topic I chose for this project is safety on public transit at night, specifically in the Edmonton area. I want to introduce some assistance and tools that ETS offers, and some actions that public transit riders can take to ensure their safety while travelling on the ETS. I utilized the high contrast of dark, cool-toned and bright, warm-toned colours to grab the audience's attention. The illustrative elements were objects related to the ETS system and the interior of a night train/bus in cool-toned colours to depict the night transit atmosphere.
Project 2: Promotion Website
This is a continuation and extension of the previous project, to provide more information for the audience and encourage them to act for better change. We are required to deliver two layouts for different devices: desktop and phone, as well as the interactive element and work on an infographic about the topic. I reserved the colour palette from the print deliverables, but brightened the dark blue to make it more vibrant. Moreover, I worked on some interactive elements for the infographic to enhance the user experience.

Reflection
Project 1
It was a challenging task to maintain a consistent visual language across the deliverables, but each part had to convey a different message. Since my chosen topic is related to the ETS system, I selected a colour scheme that aligns with their branding. It was also a challenge to make the design look aesthetic and relatable on a personal level, so the concept of inner thought and train interior space was introduced to evoke emotions from the audience. Overall, I think my public art installation has some room for improvement. It could have encouraged more interaction with the audience and been rendered better. I would try to experiment and redesign it in the near future.
Project 2
This project was the same yet different from project one, because we had to do further research on the issue to have information and statistics. I had to learn a new software to make the website prototype, which was Adobe XD, as well as user experience, and how feedback reactions worked for different devices. Two different layouts for the website were a challenge as well, since we had to maintain the flow and alternate the illustration to fit in with the different layouts. The smartphones do not have hover reactions, so I changed my elements into tap reactions, and I transformed the carousels into scroll groups. In conclusion, my website prototype turned out nicely, especially the infographic interactive components.
