Overview
This dinnerware set was developed for DES 502 course, framed within the context of a fictional state banquet hosted by the Vietnamese government. Inspired by Vietnamese nature and Lý–Trần architectural details, the collection translates cultural symbolism into contemporary form. Through intricate techniques such as the rice grain (linglong) method and carved patterns reminiscent of Lý–Trần architecture, the ceramic bodies are lightened and enriched with dimensional texture, elevating the set beyond function into a conversational artwork. Its colour palette and composed silhouettes reflect Vietnamese values of hospitality, resilience, and quiet strength while inviting dialogue at the ceremonial table.
